Frosty the Snowman
This holiday story features everyone’s favorite snowman with a magic hat who comes to life on Christmas every year.
After you’ve finished reading the book together, you can make your own snowman with this DIY Snow Recipe. Be sure to sing the Frosty the Snowman song while you’re making your snowman-the lyrics are below. The ingredients you’ll need to make your snowman with DIY Snow are:
- 2 cups of baking soda
- 2 tablespoons of salt
- 2 teaspoons clear liquid soap
- 8-10 tablespoons of water
- Accessories: ribbon, craft eyes, buttons, beads, sticks. Foam sheets are perfect in black and orange for cutting out a carrot nose, hat, eyes, mouth and buttons.
Mix all ingredients thoroughly in a large bowl.. If your dough will forms a ball, you’re all set. If it’s too dry and crumbly add water 1 tablespoon at a time until you have a dough that molds into a snowball. You’re ready to create. Add eyes, nose, hat, scarf, buttons, be creative. We used construction paper for his accessories; but craft foam would be a good option also.
Be sure to sing the Frosty the snowman song as you’re making your snowmen, here are the lyrics:
Frosty the snowman was a jolly happy soul
With a corncob pipe and a button nose
And two eyes made out of coal
Frosty the snowman is a fairytale they say
He was made of snow but the children
Know how he came to life one day
There must have been some magic in that old silk hat they found
For when they placed it on his head
He began to dance around
Frosty the snowman
Was alive as he could be
And the children say he could laugh
And play just the same as you and me
Frosty the snowman
Knew the sun was hot that day
So he said
Let’s run and We’ll have some fun
Now before I melt away
Down to the village
With a broomstick in his hand
Running here and there all
Around the square saying
Catch me if you can
He led them down the streets of town
Right to the traffic cop
And he only paused a moment when
He heard him holler “stop!”
Thumpity-thump-thump
Thumpity-thump-thump
Look at Frosty go
Thumpity-thump-thump
Thumpity-thump-thump
Over the hills of snow
Frosty the snowman was a jolly happy soul
With a corncob pipe and a button nose
And two eyes made out of coal
Frosty the snow man
Had to hurry on his way
But he waved goodbye saying
Don’t you cry
I’ll be back on Christmas Day!
